Sound health and nutrition is a basic condition for sustainable livelihoods. Considering this USS provide health supports directly and through linkages with the service providers like – Government and NGOs. USS provides nutritional education in most of its livelihoods programs for women and children. This is also a cross-cutting issue of USS.
Bangladesh confirmed the first corona virus case on 8 March 2020. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Bangladesh has declared general leave in the name of lockdown. Community people faced unprecedented challenges to combat COVID-19 because of high population density, a major proportion of people living on their day-to-day income, and the fragile healthcare system.
The situation created economically vulnerability among general people especially poor and vulnerable communities. The pandemic situation also created gender based violence in most of the vulnerable households. To combat corona virus USS has initiated awareness campaign through community meeting, miking, awareness of mass people in different market. USS also distributed food packages, masks, soap and hand sanitizer among the beneficiaries.
